TROJA LADIES - OUT OF TOWN


...It is a beautiful day out and the peaceful surroundings fill the air.
Birds are singing, bumble bees bu..zzzzzzing and...silence all around...

In this easy going atmosphere Two Very Determined and Smart ladies, Troja Ladies, are taking a walk in the country side after a V.I.P. meeting when they notice a red car parked beside the road. This car was not empty, oh no! A very very handsome gentleman was enjoying the beautiful view, a view which became even more interesting when these Elegant Women came into the picture!

This car was not just any car, it was Buick Special 1956!

TROJA - LADIES NIGHT

I was so lucky to receive an invitation to a "ladies night" with a turquoise color theme, November 2. I was wearing one item from The Troja Collection, poncho coat, as well as a dress I made for myself a few years ago (http://troja.is/index.php?id_product=24&controller=product&id_lang=1). 

The turquoise theme  made me go through my wardrobe discovering I do not have many items in that color. To do the trick I put on a turquoise eye shadow, a turquoise ring and to have something close to my face in that color I used old skirt as a scarf. At last I took a red waistband from my vintage dress to tie around my neck with a bow.



One thing I am very proud of is Troja´s clothing label but it is very elegant looking as can be seen below. That logo is stitched in the upper back of the poncho similar to most of Troja´s items. This is the case with the Thorbjorg and Margaretha top also.

These photos were taken last summer at Hvammi just above Hvammstanga in Iceland, when shooting a commercial video for Troja´s Collection. Just wanted to share a sneak preview with you.

This is the beauty of hair and makeup - you can go from being Classy Elegant to being Rock Elegant even though you don´t change the clothing itself. 

These tops you see on the photo above are changeable at the neckline. You can tie the attached scarf into a bow/knot or even through it over your shoulder. Then it is possible to buy extra attachable skirt to go with it to change it into a chiffon coat from being a top before. These tops look beautiful with simple black dress since it is cut/goes down to underneath the bust. For the Mustard color top there is a special feature. A bow to attach to the top at the front chest comes with the top.

The Troja clothing logo can be seen at the back of the top. At this photo the attachable skirt can be seen but it is available in different color to go with your top. For instance, you might want it to be Mustard color with a black lace ribbon instead of black only. You also might want to get a different combination of the lace at the skirt front edge. It is available in black - narrow or medium.

USE WINDOW FRAME AS PICTURE FRAME

Recently I thought of everything I had done this summer with a smile on my face. This summer has been quite good actually. Still there was one thing missing to make it perfect in every way. It was to find something or be given something old which without a doubt would be a waste/trash in others eyes. I had not thought about this for a long time when I walked past my house and found 3 window frames in a trashcan which looked perfect for a frame for all my photos. Since then I have cleaned them and used sandpaper to make to look nicer and even more old looking. I can not wait to put my photos in them to hang up on the wall. This is the thing with old things like these, they have history like us!

When I chose which fabrics to use for The Troja Collection my aim was to find eco-friendly fabrics so Troja´s Collection would be environmentally friendly inside out and I also wanted high quality fabrics which will last in any way in the sense of the color not fading and for it to keep it´s original shape even if it has been washed many times.

Jóhanna María Oppong hefur verið að vekja athygli að undanförnu vegna fatalínunnar Troja, en Fréttablaðið birti viðtal við Jóhönnu þann 12. september s.l. Þar segir hún frá hugmyndafræðinni að baki fatalínunni og hvað hefur haft áhrif á hönnunina.
Fatalínan var frumsýnd á unglistahátíðinni Eldur í Húnaþingi í júlí s.l. og fór Jóhanna þar yfir leiðina sem hún hefur fetað að fatalínunni.

Jóhanna María á rætur sínar að rekja til Ásbjarnarstaða á Vatnsnesi en er nú búsett í Reykjavík ásamt manni sínum og tveimur börnum. Hún er kjólklæðaskeri og viðskiptafræðingur að mennt og starfar í banka. Hennar menntun hefur haft áhrif á fatalínuna en hún segist hanna fyrir konur í viðskiptaheiminum. „Ég geng út frá því að ef ég get sjálf hugsað mér að nota flíkina í vinnunni þá eigi hún heima í línunni“, sagði Jóhanna í viðtali við Fréttablaðið.

Leiðin að fatalínunni Troja hófst í september 2011 og sagði hún í ræðu sinni á Eldi í Húnaþingi að innblásturinn hafi m.a. komið frá gardínu sem Stína á Þorgrímsstöðum gaf henni. Jóhanna prufaði sig áfram með gardínuna til að athuga hvort það væri ekki hægt að búa til flík úr henni. Þar hófst „blúnduævintýrið“ mikla og segir hún línuna bera þess merki, rauði þráðurinn í gegnum línuna sé blúnda og blúnduborðar. Innblásturinn kom þó frá fleiri stöðum og segir Jóhanna að línan sé undir miklum áhrifum frá sjötta áratugnum og Audrey Hepburn.

Hugmyndafræðin að baki línunni nefnist „slow fashion“, en hún snýst í grófum dráttum um að hlúa að og vernda umhverfið með framleiðsluháttum sem og tryggja góðan aðbúnað starfsfólks og mannsæmandi laun. Þannig er áherslan á gæði í fyrirrúmi enda styður það við umhverfisvæn sjónarmið sem snýr að því að lágmarka úrgang framtíðarinnar. Í takt við þetta reynir Jóhanna að framleiða sinn fatnað og þess vegna eru margar flíkur breytanlegar til þess að sem mest not fáist úr hverri flík. Með því er hægt að nota fatnaðinn sem oftast og því þarf ekki að kaupa jafn mikið af öðrum fatnaði. Þetta stuðlar einmitt að því að lágmarka úrgang og sóun í framtíðinni. „Ég byggi á svörtum grunnkjól sem hægt er að nota mismunandi toppa við. Toppinn má svo vera í yfir bol við pils eða buxur. Topparnir eru í nokkrum litum og sumir með áfastri slæðu í hálsmálið sem má þá binda á mismunandi vegu. Svo er hægt að fá suma toppana með slóða sem hægt er að taka af ef vill en þá áttu í raun kápu og topp í einni og sömu flíkinni.“, sagði Jóhanna í viðtali við Fréttablaðið. Þá reynir Jóhanna að vinna línuna á eins umhverfisvænan hátt og hægt er.

Í júlí á þessu ári fór allt á fullt með myndatökum sunnan heiða og svo var auglýsingamyndband tekið upp í Kirkjuhvamminum. Ýmsir aðilar hafa komið að gerð auglýsingamyndbandsins. Sölvi Mars Eðvaldsson leikstýrði og sá um myndatöku, Ágústa H. Birgisdóttir sá um stíliseringu, Sigrún Eva Þórisdóttir um hárgreiðslu og Ásdís Sverrisdóttir um förðun. Leikarar voru Margrét G. og Þorbjörg I. Ásbjarnardætur og Guðjón Þ. Loftsson, bróðir Jóhönnu. Í ræðu sinni á Eldi í Húnaþingi sagði Jóhanna að líklegt væri að tónlistin í myndbandinu verði sérsamin af heimamanni. Vinnsla á myndbandinu er í gangi og verður það birt á fyrri hluta næsta árs.

Norðanátt tók Jóhönnu Maríu örlitlu tali og forvitnaðist um hvernig henni liði með það að fatalínan hefur litið dagsins ljós og hvernig viðtökurnar hafa verið.

Ég verð að segja að léttirinn var mikill þegar ég var búin að frumsýna fatalínuna enda mikil vinna og langur tími að baki. Þegar ég hófst handa upphaflega þá grunaði mig ekki hversu tímafrekt þetta væri. Þetta er álíka og með ísjaka sem flýtur á hafi úti, 10% er sýnilegt og 90% ekki. Aðaltíminn fer ekki í að þróa línuna sjálfa heldur allt í kringum hana eins og vefsíðuna, vörumerkið og annað. Frumsýning línunnar var bara fyrsta skrefið af mörgum. Sum skrefin sé ég fyrir mér á næstu mánuðum og árum en önnur koma pottþétt sem eru ekki fyrirsjáanleg.

Ég verð að segja að mér finnst mikill ábyrgðarhlutur að koma fram með fatalínu. Ég leiddi hugann einstaka sinnum að því hvað myndi gerast ef engum líkaði nú fatnaðurinn sem ég geri. Ég sé nú eftir opnun að slíkar áhyggjur eru óþarfar enda hef ég fengið mikið hrós í hnappagatið vegna fatalínunnar og alls í kringum hana. Viðtökurnar hafa verið vonum framar og ég horfi til framtíðar með tilhlökkun í huga. 

Stefnirðu með fatalínuna lengra, eins og út í lönd?
Já, hugurinn leitar út fyrir landsteinana. Ég er með nokkur lönd í huga. Bretland er til dæmis eitt af þeim. Það er hins vegar þannig að kynning á vöru erlendis tekur mikinn tíma og krefst mikils fjármagns. Hugurinn fer mun hraðar en fjármagn og tími leyfir. Lykilorðið hér er hellingur af þolinmæði, slatti af þrautseygju og ákveðni og dash af bjartsýni. Ég er byrjuð að huga að fyrstu skrefum út fyrir Ísland enda þótt ég muni líklega ekki leggja í ´ann af fullum þunga fyrr en eftir rúmlega eitt ár.

Ég fór á fullt með hugmyndina fyrir einu og hálfu ári eftir að hafa tekið þátt í viðskiptaáætlunarsamkeppni Opna Háskólans, FKA og Íslandsbanka. Ég frumsýndi línuna svo í júlí á hátíðinni Eldur í Húnaþingi á Hvammstanga, mínum heimaslóðum,“ segir Jóhanna María Oppong kjólaklæðskeri en hún hannar kvenfatnað undir merkinu Troja.

Jóhanna segir fyrstu fatalínuna vera undir áhrifum frá sjötta áratugnum og anda Audrey Hepburn svífa yfir vötnum. Þá vinni hún undir hugmyndafræði „slow fashion“.

„Sú hugmyndafræði stýrir því svolítið hvernig fötin eru, að hægt sé að fá sem mest út úr hverri flík og hægt sé að breyta um útlit án mikillar fyrirhafnar,“ segir Jóhanna.

„Ég byggi á svörtum grunnkjól sem hægt er að nota mismunandi toppa við. Toppinn má svo vera í yfir bol við pils eða buxur. Topparnir eru í nokkrum litum og sumir með áfastri slæðu í hálsmálið sem má þá binda á mismunandi vegu. Svo er hægt að fá suma toppana með slóða sem hægt er að taka af ef vill en þá áttu í raun kápu og topp í einni og sömu flíkinni. Ég vil líka vinna línuna á eins umhverfisvænan hátt og ég get og vel til dæmis slitsterk efni sem halda vel lit.“

Jóhanna er einnig viðskiptafræðingur að mennt og starfar í banka þegar hún situr ekki við saumavélina. Það segir hún einnig hafa áhrif á hönnunina. Hún hanni fyrir konur í viðskiptaheiminum.

„Ég geng út frá því að ef ég get sjálf hugsað mér að nota flíkina í vinnunni þá eigi hún heima í línunni.“

En hvernig finnur hún lausa stund til að sinna saumum?
„Ég á tvær litlar stelpur og mann svo það er auðvitað nóg að gera. Ég sit ekkert og horfi á sjónvarpið á kvöldin,“ segir hún hlæjandi. „En þegar maður hefur ástríðu fyrir einhverju þá hefur maður alltaf tíma.“

TROJA´S FASHION

Troja´s collection was launched July 24. 2013
This summer was one of the best summers. I spent lots of time with fabulous PRO people who helped me to launch my first clothing collection Troja. The makeup artists, the hair stylists, the movie maker, the photographer, the stylist, the models and all the others made this day the most perfect day ever! I asked my brother to join us since it is a fact that a business world would not be the same without determined smart men. You can see him at the photo wearing blue suit which he borrowed from a family member. This is a very old suit but looked as if I made it myself to go with my collection. The sunglasses which he found somewhere made the look just perfect! The Troja collection is very elegant. It is in the name of Audrey Hepburn, the sixties and SLOW FASHION. By the way, I am on the right side on the photo wearing the diamond dress from the collection and some old curtains which was given to me. Just loved that curtain! Thorisdottir took care of the hair and we did the makeup our self.

We borrowed a Land Rover from Sveini I. Bragasyni to make the fashion show the most perfect. I tell you this, and you promise not to tell anyone:) My brother was the driver, driving the models to which place the fashion show was held...on the street outside. The plan was to honk the horn wildly to make some noise but well, when my brother started to honk it, no noise came. Yes that is a lesson I learned, always to test everything beforehand especially if you have a car which is not brand new. Every time I think of this, I start smiling.

 Yes when I said the fashion show was at the street, I really meant what I said, it really was on the street! No lighting, no runway just the nature and natural weather!

Who says this color is the one this season but that is not?

I think it is in the eye of the beholder!

My daddy once said when I pointed towards something saying it was not beautiful: ,, There is no such thing as ugly, things are just differently beautiful!"

I think he is so right!

Through the years I have worn clothing I think look good on me or I feel good wearing. Some years ago I did not have a lot of money to spend on beautiful things so I made this rule in my head. I swore never to buy anything except I thought it was something to die for. Nobody is perfect, sometimes I have bought things, I later find out, that are not necessary. But every time I realize how unnecessary it was I get really frustrated and almost mad at myself since I know it is just one more thing....! Well no need to get all upset, just jump back on the train and try to be better in the future. 

And there I am again, standing in front of a clothing rack in a Vintage store looking at this old clothing looking like it was never worn. It is from the sixties or seventies, made from Polyester and the fabric has this wonderful flower print on it. I can not describe the feeling but I know the feeling of finding something special! It is love at first sight really! I can not walk away from the rack....wow, that is a clothing to die for!



Today I realize how important thinking like this really is. This helps me buy less but when I buy something it has a meaning for me and makes me feel good, awesome!

CHEAP LONG LASTING PERFECT CLOTHING

Does anybody know the feeling to need or want something that is perfect but you do not want to spend any money on it? 

Does anybody know the feeling of not necessarily wanting to spend any money when your shoes which you just bought a few months ago are no good any more and you need to buy new shoes AGAIN? 

And....do you know someone whose shoes always look like it was bought Yesterday when in fact it´s NOT - just always look so NICE! 

I DO!

WHO DOESN´T, RIGHT?

The reality is the fact that "There is no such thing as free lunch"

- MEANING -

In most cases you cannot get something that is perfect in any way and pay hardly nothing for it.

If you do stumble across something like that, you need to ask yourself if there was a person who made that thing without getting a decent pay for doing so.

In most cases if you buy clothing/shoes or anything else for hardly nothing, you are missing out on the quality.

IN MOST CASES IT IS BETTER TO BUY ONE THING WHICH IS MORE EXPENSIVE  BUT WILL LAST A LIFETIME RATHER THAN MANY CHEAP THINGS WHICH DO NOT LAST THAT LONG!

SO MY ADVICE TO - YOU - IS:

PUT SOME THOUGHT INTO YOUR SHOPPING 
BUY MORE QUALITY & BUY LESS

BECAUSE

AT THE END OF THE DAY
IT WILL BE BETTER FOR EVERYONE
